Los Angeles (CNS) -- About 1.25 million Chinese live in California -the largest of any Chinese subpopulations in a US state. These new Chinese residents need to abide by American rules of the road, thus a group of private Chinese driving coaches has emerged.
While statistics are incomplete, Chinese driving coaches are more common in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. In Los Angeles alone, there are over 150.
Zhang said he hits the road as coach with three types of Chinese: overseas students, new immigrants and American born Chinese.
Driving rules in the US and China differ, which led to many experienced Chinese drivers failing the US exam for a driver's license. Zhang helps them adapt and get around.
