敦煌研究院副院長羅華慶11日接受中新社記者采訪表示,因洪水災害受損毀的道路、橋梁等相繼得到修復,莫高窟的旅游已完全恢復。
Lanzhou (CNS) -- Tourism at the Mogao Grottoes has completely resumed, Luo Huaqing, vice president of the Dunhuang Research Institute, said on Monday.
Damaged sections of road and a bridge leading to the scenic area have been repaired, said Luo.
Heavy rainfall hit multiple areas in Jiuquan City, Gansu Province, on June 4 and 5. Flooding from the Daquan River washed out the only bridge connecting to the scenic spot as well as multiple roadbeds, forcing the isolated caves to close.
Luo said flooding didn't affect the cultural relics or customer center at the grottoes.
The Yulin Caves were affected by rainfall and falling rocks, and repair and restoration work will be conducted after the flood alarm is lifted, Luo added.
