中國目前患糖尿病的總人數已達到9240萬。這是亞洲糖尿病學會副主席楊文英5日在北京透露的。
Beijing (CNS) -- About 92.4 million Chinese now have diabetes, a disease that has grown rapidly in the last decade and become a greater burden on society, Yang Wenying, vice chairman of the Asian Diabetes Association, said on Tuesday.
The global number of diabetes patients reached 366 million in 2011, and is predicted to hit 552 million in 2030, said Yang.
In China, most diabetes sufferers are aged over 70, but the number of middle-aged people with the disease is growing considerably, now almost six to eight times as high as in the 1990s, Yang added.
China's proportion of undiagnosed diabetes cases is also higher than developed countries, said Yang.
