Beijing (CNS) -- "Rather than use my title of cooking master, I prefer to define myself as an ambassador for Chinese culture and cuisine," said Martin Yan, during an exclusive interview he gave to China News Service on Monday.
Martin Yan is a Chinese-born American chef and the host of Yan Can Cook, a television show seen by an audience of two billion around the world. The episodes range widely across China's culinary heritage, offering a multi-faceted look at today's China as well as its deeply rooted culinary traditions. Chef Yan's adventures in the kitchen reveal the sheer diversity of the people and regional cooking that are as vast as the country itself.
Yan celebrates the borderless nature of food and how it connects people around the world. "I often think to myself that as I was born and grew up in China, someday I will come back," said Yan.
At the age of nearly sixty, Yan returned to China to develop his popular media undertaking. At present, he owns a restaurant in Beijing and another in Guangzhou.
