Lhasa (CNS) -- Sixty well-prepared climbers gathered at the Yangbajing Mountain Training Base near Lhasa on May 2 were set to head off for Qizi Peak and Tangla'angqu Peak, both of which rise over 6,000 meters above sea level.

This is the 10th Session of the Tibet Spring Mountaineering Meeting, and the brave souls are junior climbers from 14 cities across the country. The climbers meeting has been suspended for the last two years.

Team leader Nyima Tsering said the peaks are at moderate altitudes and suitable for juniors to challenge, but to ensure their safety, fifty guides and coaches were assigned to accompany the climbing team. They will also be backed up along the whole journey by professional medical service and logistics personnel.
