Moutai to invest 180 mln to build tracing system

Guiyang (CNS) -- China's top liquor maker Kweichow Moutai Co will invest 180 million yuan in a custom tracing system for its liquor circulation, to ensure its products can be distinguished from fake ones, a company source revealed on Thursday.

The company will add an electronic tag to its products that contains anti-counterfeit data, a move that will better safeguard the rights and interests for both the company and consumers.

It is known that in 2011, Moutai assisted law enforcement agencies in the seizure of 236,000 bottles of counterfeit Moutai, and another 173,600 bottles that involved fraud through manipulation of the company's series products.
