Beijing (CNS) -- A China-Intel institute on the Internet of Things (IoT) was jointly set up by the Institute of Automation (IA) under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the government of Beijing, and U.S  IT giant Intel, according to the signing ceremony held on Wednesday.

Intel CTO Justin Rattner has greeted this advance in China's IoT development by saying he anticipated the newly-founded institute will lead both China and Intel in the global IoT sphere.

In the next five years, the three parties will invest 200 million yuan (US$ 31.8 million) on development of IoT core technologies, exploration of the new industry, as well as creation and innovation on its commercial possibilities.

Intel is advanced in its computing fabric and semiconductor technology, and China will be an essential market for the IoT industry, commented Wang Donglin, head of IA.

The new institute will collaborate closely with all sectors of the Chinese IoT industrial chain.
