Fuzhou (CNS) -- Fuzhou, the provincial capital of Fujian Province with a history of over 2,200 years, plans to invest 8.49 billion yuan to preserve and repair its historic sites by 2015, according to a local government release on Thursday.

The local authority said it would arrange 4.14 billion yuan for the protection and restoration of Hang historical and cultural blocks, 1.71 billion yuan for Zhuzi Square, and 2.08 billion yuan for historic attractions on Yantai Mountain.

These repair projects are merely a small part of a larger plan to bring back history to people's every day life.

Fuzhou was once a thriving port and a shipbuilding center, and this forged its splendid history and shaped the city's outgoing coastal lifestyle. For instance, "Three Lanes and Seven Alleys," a cluster of ancient residential buildings dating from the late Jin Dynasty still exists today, preserving a wealth of culture that needs to be taken care of for future generations.
