Houston (CNS) -- A live 'terra cotta warrior' walked slowly towards the visitors and gently applauded his own arrival with them – this performance is served to open the exhibition called "Warriors, Tombs and Temples: China's Enduring Legacy" in the Houston Museum of Natural Science on Wednesday.

The landmark exhibition draws from China's most important archaeological excavations, assembled in cooperation with nine leading Chinese institutions. The Huston stop will last for half a year, until September 3.

The exhibition showcases 120 cultural relics from the underworld empires of three of the most formative dynasties in Chinese history, that is, the Qin, Han, and Tang.

The treasures that accompanied China's rulers and elites in the afterlife, and the spectacular gold and silver offerings placed in their temples speak to the incredible accomplishments of an ancient culture whose descendants live on today.

The exhibition will intensify the U.S. people's understanding of Chinese culture, said Zhang Wenxiang, deputy secretary of Shaanxi Bureau of Culture Relics. He also confirmed there will be more such cultural exchanges between the U.S. and China.
