China manages int’l trade with digital certificate system

Beijing (CNS) -- As of 2010, China has been implementing a digital certificate system for product inspection and quarantine to make sure import and export goods meet the country's standards for quality and hygiene. An international conference on the subject was held Monday in Beijing.

This gathering of senior officials drew attendees from 40 countries that are participating or interested in exploring the digital certificate system, including diplomats, officials from ministries of commerce and state customs authorities, as well as representatives from chambers of commerce.

China has established official collaborations with its counterparts in New Zealand, Australia and the Netherlands, and has reached consensus with Thailand and Korea, on real-time exchanges of each other's electronic certificate database. Negotiations with Singapore, Chile, Iran, Belgium, France and the Taiwan region are underway, chief inspector Xiang Yuzhang told conference attendees.
