Cross-strait museums cooperate on upcoming exhibits

Taipei (CNS) -- The Taipei Palace Museum is cooperating this year with mainland museums in Shenyang, Anyang and Xi'an to exhibit royal collectables and artifacts from the Shang and Zhou dynasties (c.1600–221BC), Director Chou Kung-shin told CNS during the unveiling ceremony of the "Western Mythology and Legends Selected Works from the Louvre Museum" exhibition on Monday.

The royal collectables, expected to be made public in June, include jewelry of China's last emperor Puyi from the Mukden Palace Museum in Shenyang, the capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, and some Western royal families, said Chou.

In October, unearthed Shang and Zhou Dynasty artifacts from their prime periods will be demonstrated, contributed by cultural relic organizations in Shaanxi and Henan Provinces, added Chou.

She also warmly invited visitors from the mainland to the delicately-designed exhibition from the French Palace at Taipei's Palace Museum, which will last from January 20 to May 14.
