China to host robot competition

Beijing (CNS) – A national robot competition will be held for the first time in China next November, announced China's Sport Robot Competition Committee at a press conference in Beijing on Tuesday.

China has a long way to go to catch up to some countries with respect to high-level sport robots, admitted Xing Xiaoquan, the committee's secretary general. China needs a sound system that is up to the standards of robot competitions, which in this country have often been held by folk organizations, he added.

China's General Administration of Sport announced in June last year that robot competition is expected to be turned into an emerging sport and the related preparations for this development, such as the draft of regulations and training programs, are already underway.
