Zhengzhou (CNS) -- Suspicions that recycled needles are spreading hepatitis C in communities on the boundary between Henan and Anhui provinces have not been confirmed yet. So far, 103 victims have been infected, announced an official of Yongcheng City.

It was determined that what most of the confirmed victims have in common is they have received medical treatment at the Miaoqian clinic, a family-run business in Maqiao township, Yongcheng, about eight kilometers from the border.

Some parents claimed to have seen the same needle used to give injections to different children.

State and provincial authorities formed an investigative team comprised of supervisory, disease control and infection experts, to identify the true cause of the outbreak, formulate a therapeutic scheme, and offer consultations to the patients.

Yongcheng will form a cooperative disease control regime with the neighboring township of Woyang. The probe into the cause is still ongoing, said the official.
