Beijing (CNS) -- Fourteen Chinese solar panel makers issued a joint statement refuting an anti-dumping complaint filed in the US by seven American competitors lead by SolarWorld, at a press conference in Beijing, Tuesday.
Any possible tariffs resulting from the application will seriously hinder the development of green energy, charges vice president of the China Chamber of Commerce Wang Guiqing, who spoke on behalf of the Chinese companies at the conference.
The American manufacturers request the Obama administration impose trade sanctions on China for subsidizing its solar panel exporters and therefore encouraging "unfair competition."
"The competitive advantages of the Chinese photovoltaic companies are due primarily to the concentration of the industrial chain inside China," and not due to Chinese government grants, Wang added.
The Chinese firms expressed confidence that they will overcome this challenge and maintain their competitiveness in the U.S. market, asserting a more open international environment for the photovoltaic trade is essential to the mission of global environmental protection.
The case was filed by the United States International Trade Commission and the Department of Commerce on October 19 and November 8 respectively.
