The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) announced on Monday that the 2nd China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) will be held from November 26 to 30, 2024, which observers said was built on the fruitful results of the first CISCE and showed China's unswerving commitment to further opening-up.

The CCPIT said that preparatory work for the 2024 expo has started, and it is now sending sincere invitations to enterprises around the world. The CISCE is the world's first supply chain-themed expo.

As the 2nd CISCE is expected to be held at a time when the global economy will be facing more challenges and uncertainties, China's active measures to build a large-scale international expo will further enhance the connectivity of global industry chains to overcome difficulties together, Dong Shaopeng, a senior research fellow at the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at the Renmin University of China, told the Global Times on Monday.

"China is taking concrete moves to leverage its advantages in the supply chain sector to strengthen international cooperation, which also shows China is making efforts to fulfill its commitment of stabilizing global industry chains," said Dong. He noted that it also demonstrates the country's resolve to carry out further opening-up of the market and promote international cooperation.

Before the close of the first CISCE, 44 Chinese and foreign leading enterprises had already signed up to participate in the second expo, including SAP, GE Healthcare, TCL, Winner Medical, iFLYTEK and Sinopharm, which were all exhibitors at the first CISCE.

Zhang Shaogang, vice chairman of the CCPIT, said at the signing ceremony of the second CISCE that the vast majority of exhibitors said that the effect of the first CISCE exceeded their expectations, and they hoped to continue to participate in the CISCE next year to further expand international supply chain cooperation.

The 1st CISCE was held in Beijing from November 28 to December 2, 2023, attracting the participation of 515 domestic and foreign enterprises. About 200 deals and intention agreements were signed during the expo, worth over 150 billion yuan ($21 billion).
