Chinese commercial drone maker SZ DJI Technology Co has been challenged by Autel Robotics, a U.S. subsidiary of Chinese technology company Autel Intelligent Technology Corp, over copyright infringement, according to the Chinese?Ministry of Commerce?(MOFCOM) on Tuesday.
Autel Robotics filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), claiming that DJI had infringed its patent rights in unmanned aerial vehicles and components imported to and sold in the U.S., the MOFCOM said in a statement.
In the complaint, Autel Robotics requested the ITC to conduct an investigation into DJI and issue a ban on DJI.
Autel Robotics, which manufactures drones for photography, filming and imaging, is a subsidiary of Autel Intelligent Technology based in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province, where DJI is also based.
The two companies have been engaged in a turf war, competing for a huge U.S. market. In April, Autel Robotics filed a lawsuit against DJI in New York, alleging that DJI has infringed its intellectual property, according to documents.
