Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com will work with the top economic planner to create jobs for those made redundant as China pushed to slash overcapacity.

JD.com, China's second largest e-commerce platform, will expand its logistics and marketing service network in regions where steel plants and coal mines are a main employer, according to an agreement signed with the National Development and Reform Commission Friday.

The company hopes to expand its e-commerce network so that it covers over 70 percent of county-level cities by 2020, thus, creating over 100,000 jobs.

The central government has been working with service-intensive companies such as Alibaba to create job opportunities for people in rural areas or regions bogged down by overcapacity.
