Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met Tuesday with Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, in China for the Euro-Asia Economic Forum.

Li praised the development of China-Armenia ties since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1992.

He hoped that the two countries would cement political mutual trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation and expand people-to-people exchanges, to promote sustained development of their relationship.

Li said China is ready to enhance the alignment of its development strategies with Armenia and push forward industrial capacity cooperation in areas of non-ferrous metals and building materials.

The Chinese government supports Chinese companies to participate in the construction of major infrastructure projects in Armenia, such as highways and nuclear power plants, he said.

He also suggested enhanced cooperation in aviation and tourism between the two sides, in a bid to open up new areas for mutually beneficial cooperation.

Li lauded the successful Armenian Culture Day in Beijing this year, saying China will take the opportunity of holding the Chinese Culture Day in Armenia next year to increase the mutual understanding and friendship between people of both sides.

Abrahamyan said Armenia welcomes Chinese enterprises to take part in the construction of its big infrastructure projects, including highways and railways.

Armenia is willing to strengthen industrial capacity cooperation with China in such sectors of energy, mineral resources, cement and sheet glass, he said.

He also suggested reinforced cooperation with China in light industry, agriculture, tourism, aviation and culture.

The 2015 Euro-Asia Economic Forum, scheduled on September 23-26, will be held in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, with the Silk Road Economic Belt high on the agenda.
