Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi Inc has filed several patent applications on automobile, Shanghai-based financial news portal cnstock.com reported Tuesday.
Xiaomi's patent applications include automobile control, navigation and prediction for parking occupancy, according to cnstock.com. The move showed that the smartphone maker has intent to venture into automotive business, the report said.
Xiaomi is likely to obtain the core technologies of the car industry instead of only focusing on building Internet connected vehicles, cnstock.com reported.
