The "Made in China 2015 Exhibition - Qatar" briefing, hosted by the Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry, was held at the China National Convention Center on January 7.

Officials attending the briefing included Deputy Director General of the Department of Western Asian and African Affairs in the Ministry of Commerce, Cao Jiachang; Deputy Head of the Exhibition Department of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Xu Yanbo; Deputy General Manager of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Saleh Hamad al-Sharqi; and Deputy Head of Mission and First Secretary of the Qatari Embassy in Beijing, Abdulla Saif S. G. al-Khayarin.

More than 130 people from both China and Qatar's organizations and enterprises also attended the briefing.

The Qatar Chamber will host the "Made in China 2015 Exhibition" in Doha in Qatar from December 14 to 16, 2015.

The theme of this year's "Made in China" exhibition is "Construction and Technology." After Qatar was chosen to host the 2019 World Athletic Championships and the 2022 FIFA World Cup, its domestic construction market has welcomed a surge in demand.

More than 300 exhibitors from China will feature products for 800 government and corporate buyers from 30 regions in the Middle East and Africa at the exhibition.

This exhibition showcases Chinese products and services for international buyers. It features top suppliers and internationally renowned Chinese enterprises in the construction industry, with products relating to architecture, roads and railways, hydraulic and hydro-power projects, public works, communication, radio and television engineering, construction planning and design, and building materials.

The technology portion of the exhibition features construction machinery, mechanical and electronic products, mobile Internet technology, energy efficient products, and smart city solutions.

Al-Sharqi said at the briefing that the Qatar Chamber has high hopes that this exhibition will be a milestone for the country's development.

"Through this exhibition, we can become more informed about the latest in modern science and technology, which sets the developmental pace for Qatar's progress."

Cao said the exhibition is an achievement for building a richer relationship between the two countries and serves as a solid foundation for long-term cooperation.

"The Ministry of Commerce attaches great importance to the further development of economic and trade cooperation between China and Qatar," he said. "I believe that with bilateral efforts, greater progress will be made in 2015."
