China approves marine development pilot in Qingdao

國務(wù)院3日發(fā)文，批復(fù)同意山東省政府有關(guān)設(shè)立青島西海岸新區(qū)的請示，要求把青島西海岸新區(qū)發(fā)展成為海洋科技自主創(chuàng)新領(lǐng)航區(qū)、深遠(yuǎn)海開發(fā)戰(zhàn)略保障基地、軍民融合創(chuàng)新示范區(qū)、海洋經(jīng)濟(jì)國際合作先導(dǎo)區(qū)、陸海統(tǒng)籌發(fā)展試驗(yàn)區(qū)，為探索全國海洋經(jīng)濟(jì)科學(xué)發(fā)展新路徑發(fā)揮示范作用。 [查看全文]

China's State Council, the Cabinet, has approved of the establishment of the Qingdao West Coast New Area in east China's Shandong province, a central government statement said on Monday.

The area, aiming to pilot marine technology innovation and serve as a strategic base for deep sea and off-shore exploration, is to play a role in seeking new ways for scientific development of the country's marine economy, the statement said.

The area, in the west coast of Jiaozhou Bay, covers Huangdao district in Qingdao, a coastal city in Shandong. The area's land size is 2,096 square kilometers and the sea area is about 5,000 square kilometers.

According to the document, the area will focus on the development of the marine economy and emerging marine industries.
