US airplane producer Boeing said Wednesday that Chinese budget airline 9 Air has committed to 50 Boeing 737 aircraft, including the next-generation 737 MAXs.

Boeing did not disclose the financial details of the deal or its delivery schedule, but the total price could reach $3 billion, according to the list price posted on Boeing's website.

According to the Nanfang Daily on Wednesday, 9 Air plans to put them into operation by 2020 after being approved by China's air regulatory body.

Based in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong Province, 9 Air is China's newest low-cost airline, having been established in February this year, and is a subsidiary of Juneyao Airlines.

In March this year, Ji Guangping, vice president of Juneyao Airlines, said that 9 Air plans to introduce at least 26 A320s or Boeing 737s in five years, and the airline plans to start domestic routes at the end of this year.
