China reports $33 bln deficit in Q1 services trade

China registered a deficit of $32.8 billion in its international trade in services in the first quarter of 2014, new data showed.

The nation's total revenues from services trade in the January-March period stood at 53.3 billion U.S. dollars, while expenditures hit 86.2 billion U.S. dollars, according to data released on Thursday by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.

In March, the deficit stood at 9.9 billion U.S. dollars, with revenues and expenditures at 19.3 billion U.S. dollars and 29.3 billion U.S. dollars respectively, the data showed.

Trade in services include areas such as transport, travel, telecommunications, construction and financial.
