Finnish mobile communications giant Nokia Corp launched its new streaming music service tailored to the China market on Thursday, in a bid to attract more young consumers.

This new service is called MixRadio, and offers 30 million songs available to stream for free, but it only runs on Nokia Lumia series and Nokia X series smartphones.

Simplicity in operation and personalization are its two major features, according to Jyrki Rosenberg, vice-president of Nokia Entertainment.

MixRadio has already been introduced in 31 countries and regions.

The move is considered part of Nokia's attempt to make a comeback in the smartphone industry.

In 2013, Nokia Corp, which was once the world's leading mobile phone vendor, witnessed a year-on-year decrease of 17 percent in net sales from 15.4 billion euros ($21.18 billion) in 2012.

It now faces fierce competition in the high-end mobile phone market from Samsung Electronics Co and Apple Inc, while in the mid- and low-end market, domestic rivals such as ZTE Corp and Huawei Technologies Co are gaining more ground.
