China's invoice violations exceed 8 bln USD in 2013

A total 10,043 invoice crime cases were uncovered in 2013, involving more than 51.9 billion yuan (about 8.6 billion US dollars), according to the Ministry of Public Security.

More than 4.9 billion yuan was retrieved during last year's campaign to crack down on invoice violations, which was jointly carried out by the ministry and the State Administration of Taxation, the ministry said on Tuesday.

The ministry also announced ten serious cases of export-tax cheating through falsified invoices, fabricating special invoices for value-added tax and making and selling fake invoices in Shanghai and the provinces of Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei, Henan and Jiangxi.

The ministry said that public security and taxation authorities will firmly curb invoice crime and strengthen tax assessment and supervision in order to further promote tax reform nationwide.
