Airlines to get $150 million subsidy

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) said over the weekend that 23 airline companies will receive 912 million yuan ($150 million) of subsidies in 2014.

China Eastern Airlines, the country's second-largest carrier by passenger numbers, will receive the highest amount of 211 million yuan, which will come from the southwest and northwest regional offices of the CAAC.

China Southern Airlines will receive 198 million yuan, which will mostly be used to develop the company's branch in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

Tianjin Airlines will get 153 million yuan from the CAAC.
