Chinese shares end lower on Friday

Chinese shares ended lower on Friday after gaining for four straight days, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.86 percent, or 19.39 points, to finish at 2,236.22.

The Shenzhen Component Index retreated 0.31 percent, or 27.34 points, to finish at 8,687.54.
