French food giant Danone has yet to decide on claiming compensation from New Zealand dairy firm Fonterra, a PR staff member from Danone told the Global Times Monday, refuting reports that the company may consider legal action and demand compensation from Fonterra.

Fonterra announced in early August that the whey protein it used contained a bacteria that may cause botulism. Eight companies around the world have used the contaminated raw materials from the dairy producer, and four companies among them have made recalls in China, including Donane's Dumex, and Hangzhou Wahaha Group.

Felix Martin, executive vice president of Danone's baby nutrition arm, told a news briefing Sunday that the recall caused drops in the group's Asia-Pacific baby nutrition business in the third quarter and the priority of the group is to restore consumers' confidence in its baby formula brands Dumex and Karicare.
