US automaker Chrysler will recall some Grand Voyagers on the Chinese mainland to fix a software problem in the vehicles, China's consumer quality watchdog said Thursday.
The recall will affect 2,639 vehicles built between Sept. 11, 2012 and June 6, 2013, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement.
Defects in software could cause the vehicles' side airbags to deploy on the wrong side in a crash, according to the statement.
That is to say, a left-side impact would cause the right-side airbag to deploy.
The recalled vehicles will be fixed free of charge.
