Scotland aims to share in the opportunities of China's offshore wind development, Humza Yousaf, Scotland's Minister for External Affairs and International Development, said in Beijing Tuesday.

During his visit, Scottish energy consultancy SugurrEnergy on Tuesday signed a contract with the Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute (GEPDI) to provide advice on wind power assessment, management, site selection and design.

GEPDI is involved in developing the first offshore wind farm in South China's Guangdong Province.

China is aiming to expand its offshore wind power capacity to 5 gigawatts by 2015. But by the end of 2012, the country had installed only 389.6 megawatts of offshore wind capacity, the Beijing-based International Financial News reported Monday.
