The Shenzhen-based China Emissions Exchange will launch a platform for carbon emission trading starting Tuesday, media reported Monday.

The first trading day is expected to see eight deals, including three by companies and five by individuals, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported Monday.

The first carbon trade deals will be priced at around 30 yuan ($4.90) per ton, half of the carbon price in California's trade market, said Shenzhen's vice mayor Tang Jie, as quoted in the report.

A total of 635 industrial enterprises and 200 public buildings have entered the market so far, the report said.
