China's consumer price index has rebound in April, risen to 2.4 percent, from March's 2.1 percent. That's according to data released on Thursday by the National Bureau of Statistics.

Overall food prices have increased 4 percent. The recent outbreak of bird flu and the incident of pigs carcasses in a river in Shanghai have prompted people to turn to more fruit and vegetables, and the demand has pushed up prices. Non-food prices also rose by a new high of 1.6 percent.

Meanwhile China's producer price index, or PPI, which measures inflation at the wholesale level, fell 2.6 percent year on year in April. It's the 7th month of continuous fall of the PPI.
