China's consumer price index has grown mildly in March. That according to the data released on Tuesday by the National Bureau of Statistics.

According to the NBS statement, the CPI, a main gauge of inflation, increased 2.1 percent for the month of March from a year earlier. The overall food prices, which account for nearly one-third of the weighting in China's CPI, have increased 2.7 percent. Meanwhile, China's producer price index (PPI), which measures inflation at the wholesale level, continues to fall 1.9 percent. Previous official data showed that China's CPI rose 3.2 percent year on year in February, the highest level in 10 months and a sharp jump from the 2-percent increase seen in January.
