China extends anti-dumping measures on nonylphenol

2013-03-29 08:00 Xinhua     Web Editor: qindexing comment

China will extend anti-dumping measures on nonylphenol (NP) imported from India and Taiwan for another five years starting from Friday.

The Ministry of Commerce (MOC) slapped five-year anti-dumping duties ranging from 4.08 percent to 20.38 percent on NP imports from India and Taiwan on March 28, 2007 after finding that the imports had hurt the interests of domestic producers.

At the request of domestic producers, the ministry launched a review last year to evaluate the possibility of dumping and damages if the measures expired.

Thursday's announcement by MOC said it found the damage will likely recur if the measures are lifted.

NP is used as a chemical intermediate. It is often a precursor to commercially important detergents and is widely used in the production of surfactant and paint.
