Le Havre port, the second-largest commercial port in France by cargo traffic, wants to invest in Chinese ports.

"We are looking for opportunities to invest in Chinese ports especially in the second-tier cities, which have great potential," said Gerard Mercher, general manager of Le Havre Developpement, the economic development agency of Le Havre region.

Mercher said that Chinese ports would also benefit from the investment by learning from the French's company experience in ports management and other areas.

The French port currently has cooperation projects with Chinese coastal ports, including Tianjin port and Shanghai port, as well as inland river ports such as Chongqing port and Wuhan port.
