Although China's outbound investment still remains small and accounts for only 1.5 percent of the global total, there is a great potential for it to grow in the near future, Zhao Qizheng, a spokesperson from the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said Wednesday at an annual meeting on the country's foreign investment in Hong Kong.
In order to win public trust, domestic firms with plans to go overseas should cultivate strong relationships with local governments, local media and local non-governmental organizations in the regions they hope to invest in, Zhao recommended.
