Philips plans LED plant in Sichuan province

A light-emitting diode manufacturing facility of Philips Lighting Greater China will open in Sichuan province in 2013.

Company President Tommy Leong said the Chengdu facility will optimize the allocation of resources, including production, warehousing and logistics.

Philips also plans to set up a 10,000-square-meter "Lighting Application Center," which will be the largest in Asia, and the most advanced one in the world.

Through the center, Philips will showcase its lighting technologies, applications and solutions, Leong said.
