Geely Gleagle GC7 lineup released in Shandong

Geely Gleagle has released its GC7 lineup which is composed of 6 models priced and equipped with 1.8-litre manual or automatic transmissions (AT) and 4 models with 1.5-litre manual transmissions in Jinan, Shangdong, a province in northern China, last week.

The GC7, which is expected to become a milestone for Chinese homegrown brands, was created on the basis of Geely's improved technology and R&D capacity. It came after Geely acquired Drivetrain System International (DSI), the world's number two AT producer from its Australian owner and adopted globally-shared technology for its creation, said Liu Jinliang, Geely's vice president and head of marketing and sales.

Six-speed manumatic transmissions

Most A-class cars with automatic transmissions offer four-speed choice. However, Gleagle GC7 adopts DSI's six-speed AT technology, initiating a new technical standard among its Chinese counterparts and bringing its owners a novel driving experience. The biggest surprise the GC7 gives buyers is the fuel-efficient drivetrain system combining DSI's six-speed manumatic transmissions and DVVT engines.

The GC7's power performance is improved by 10 percent due to DSI's six-speed manumatic transmissions, which only need 0.3 second to shift to another gear, making the driving smoother. It also astonishes buyers with its fuel-economy that has reached 6.7 liters per 100km, excellent output which establishes a new power standard for A-class family cars and Geely's full-fledged suspension system that has noise reduced, providing its owners a pleasant driving experience.

Auxiliary accessories

Gleagle GC7 offers handy auxiliary accessories in both 1.8- litre and 1.5- litre models.

With a cruise control system (CCS) seldom fitted in A-class cars, the GC7 is able to maintain a set speed while the driver does not have to press the accelerator pedal. The system enables a GC7 driver even driving at a high speed to avoid fatigue and improves the fuel efficiency due to less speed adaption.

A smart on-board computer keeps the driver informed of the fuel mileage, average fuel consumption, and ensures safe mobility by warning the diver immediately when a door is not closed, a light not turned off, the key not pulled out, or a passenger don't use the seat belt.

The best fitted visual park distance controls (front &rear) remind the driver of the proper distance when parking. The anti-pinch control system for the sunroof, which has never been equipped in a car priced between $50,000 and $60,000, ensures a safer journey than other cars of the same class do. The adaptive headlamp can turn on or off automatically according to the light brightness, making the driving simpler but safer.

Some other user-friendly accessories can also be found in the GC7, such as bracketless windshield wipers, rear window shades and center high-mounted stop lamps (CHMSL).

Meticulous safety features

Gleagle gave top priority to safety during its R&D period. The GC7 lineup, in compliance with five-star safety standards, adopts all the advanced safety technologies owned by Geely and safety accessories purchased from worldwide to ensure all the models in the lineup can provide safe mobility for their users.

For active safety, accessories like Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Electric Brake-force Distribution (EBD), 4-wheel disc brake system of excellent performance and safety alarm are available in the GC7.

For passive safety, the GC7 protects its occupants through air bags, crash avoidance technology, collapsible steering columns, protections against neck injuries and a five-star safe body with energy-absorbing capability in collisions. The specially designed layout of the GC7 is able to reduce the collision force when various crashes occur. The passenger compartment, equipped with parts made of high tensile strength steel plates onto all sides, ensures a safe ride. Besides, the highly sensitive anti-theft alarm system eases the user's concern over his/her precious belongings in cars.

Child safety features designed in the GC7 include child safety seats and child safety locks which can lock automatically when the speed is over 20km per hour.

As a new family car under Gleagle, the GC7 is born to be a competitive player in the A-class car market.
