BMW's sales in 2011 reached a record high, up 12.8 percent compared with 2010. It sold 233,630 cars in the Chinese mainland market, an increase of 37.7 percent year-on-year.
Its chairman Nobert Reithofer said that the company aims to create a higher record in sales and earnings before tax in 2012. "We've received a large quantity of orders in the beginning of the new year," he said.
According to Reithofer, BMW estimated it would sell more than 2 million cars globally in 2016, more than the goal they had set for 2020.
