An ornate tomb dating back around 1,000 years was accidentally discovered in North China's Shanxi Province on Thursday.
Found under a farmer's home that had been demolished, the colorful subterranean chamber was built during the Song Dynasty (960-1279), experts from Jishan county cultural relics bureau in the city of Yuncheng confirmed.
The south-facing rectangular tomb includes intricate details such as murals of people, as well as frescoes of birds and flowers.
Along the top edge, human handprints - presumably belonging to the craftsman of the tomb - are visible.
Excavation efforts of the ancient site are still underway.
Many Sina Weibo users expressed amazement at the enduring beauty of the discovery.
"Such Chinese ancient tombs have tremendous research value," wrote "Shanlirenjia."
