The central government has given the permission for the People's Liberation Army Macao Garrison to help with disaster relief in Macao, an official statement said Friday.
The approval was made at the request of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government in accordance with the Basic Law of the Macao SAR and the Garrison Law of the Macao SAR, it said.
Eight people were confirmed dead and 200 others injured after typhoon Hato struck Macao SAR on Wednesday.
