Shanghai Pudong International Airport announced its intention to build a third terminal building before the year 2035, making the airport's annual loading and unloading capacity 120 million persons, according to the Xinmin Evening News.
Pudong airport currently has two terminals and four airport runways. A fifth runway, for large aircraft, is expected to be put into use starting June, 2017.
It is noteworthy that a high speed railway commuting system is being planned to connect Pudong airport, Hongqiao airport and a new railway station in eastern Shanghai.
