An explosion occurred at a workshop of a pharmaceutical company in east China's Jinan City Monday night with casualties and environmental impacts still unknown, local sources said.
The explosion was reportedly heard around 9 p.m. near Qilu Pharmaceutical Company in Dongjia Township, said the city government, citing several hotline tips.
According to people living nearby, the explosion was felt strongly, and white powder and a burning smell filled the air.
Firefighters have rushed to the scene.
