Foreigners with an electronic passport and a residence permit in China are now allowed to go through a self-service customs clearance channel at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
Those with fingerprint and facial information recorded at China's frontier inspection stations in advance are authorized to bypass customs at Pudong International Airport. The new self-service gate takes less than 10 seconds to complete.
There are 27 such gates at Pudong International Airport to serve an estimated 7,000 daily inbound foreigners.
Online statistics showed that the total number of inbound visitors reached 5.1 million between July 1st to August 16th of this year.
