To promote the city of Beihai in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, a 3-day cultural activity titled The Belt and Road, By Beihai We Are Bound kicked off in Beijing's Beihai Park on Friday.
Sharing the same name with Beihai Park, Beihai is a peninsula city that has earned a reputation for coastal tourism and historical culture.
Beihai's Deputy Mayor Cai Jing, China Intercontinental Press Chief Editor Ci Aimin, Beihai Park Director Zhu Wei, Chinese Writer's Association Vice President Chen Jiangong and famous performance artist Xie Fang delivered speeches at the opening ceremony, which featured ethnic music and dance performances and was attended by more than 200 guests from home and abroad.
Additionally, a series of Beihai-themed activities including theatrical performances, sand painting, southern Chinese martial arts shows, painting and calligraphy demonstrations and local food and handicrafts exhibitions were also held in the park .
According to the organizers The Belt and Road, By Beihai We Are Bound will also be held in Russia, the UK, Japan and other countries.
