China's Minister of Supervision, Huang Shuxian, pledged that China will step up its efforts in global cooperation on fighting corruption, go after fugitives and their illegal assets and crack down on transnational commercial bribery.

Joining dozens of world leaders and high-level officials on Thursday in London at the Anti-Corruption Summit, Huang said China greatly values and takes an active part in global cooperation on anti-corruption and President Xi Jinping has committed to doing so on more than 30 key diplomatic occasions.

"The Chinese government has made cooperation and the pursuit of fugitives and recovery of criminal proceeds part of its work plan on anti-corruption," said Huang at the summit.

He said China has established a clear and efficient inter-agency coordination mechanism within the centralized leadership structure at home.

"Our commitment to law-based governance and rule-based Party discipline is strong. We will keep to the right political course and make sure that the improvement of Party conduct and our fight against corruption will stay as an ongoing process with more in-depth progress," he said.

For next steps, Huang vowed that China will build more platforms for international cooperation while China is a member of 15 global and regional anti-corruption cooperation mechanisms. China will continue to go after fugitives and their illegal assets.

According to him, since 2014, China has brought back 1,657 fugitives of corruption and economic crimes from 71 countries and territories and recovered illegal assets worth 6.29 billion yuan (roughly one billion dollars).

"We will crack down on transnational commercial bribery, punishing such activities by both Chinese companies overseas and foreign companies in China," said Huang.
