China's track and field team took three medals at the Doha 2016 IAAF Diamond League meeting as Zhang Guowei and Dong Bin won silver medals respectively while Lyu Huihui claimed the bronze here on Friday.

Zhang Guowei, the runner-up of world championships last year, jumped 2.31 meters and pocketed a silver medal in his first outdoor campaign in 2016. Erik Kynard of the United States finished first at 2.33 meters while Italy's Marco Fassinotti was third at 2.29 meters. The 2015 world champion Derek Drouin from Canada only ranked fifth, and the native elite Mutaz Aissa Barsham just got seventh.

"My performance was not very good but I am satisfied with the silver, my form was not steady after the indoor world championships and I still can't adjust my new shoes, I hope I can restore my form gradually," Zhang said.

Dong Bin, the winner of World Indoor Championships in Portland, added another silver for China as he jumped 17.07 meters in the men's triple jump, 0.16 meters behind American Christian Taylor.

Lyu Huihui, the silver medalist in Beijing world championships, claimed the bronze in women's javelin throw with 62.42 meters. Sunette Viljoen took the gold medal with season best 65.14 meters.

The Asian record holder Li Ling only ranked fourth with 4.63 meters in women's pole vault while Sandi Morris finished first with meeting record of 4.83 meters.

Li said: "It's my first outdoor campaign this season, and my main job is to change a new pole, so my performance today was not very perfect. The Rio Olympic Games will be held in less than three months, so I am trying to make breakthrough in skills, today is just my first step, and I still need to practice and show my best condition before the Games."

Jamaica's talent Omar McLeod continued to show his gift in 110m hurdles as the 22-year-old beat his compatriot Hansle Parchment, updating his own world leading result to 13.05 seconds.

"My start could have been better, and I hit several hurdles. I'll go back and watch the video of this race and work out what I need to improve on before the next IAAF Diamond League meeting in Shanghai," he said.

Tori Bowie powered to a convincing 10.80 seconds win the women's 100 meters while Dutch sprinter Dafne Schippers came second at 10.83 seconds while two-time Olympic 200m champion Veronica Campbell-Brown of Jamaica also went under 11 seconds, finishing third in 10.91.

In some other disciplines, Lashawn Merritt from the United States dominated the men's 400 meters with 44.41 seconds. Ameer Webb won the men's 200 meters in 19.85 seconds.
