Authority in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province, made an explanation on land use after owners' fixed-term rights expire on Tuesday, news portal cs.com.cn reported.

Land transferred before September 18, 1995 could see its rights renewed with the signing of a new contract and the payment of a fixed amount fee, according to a statement posted on the Weibo of the city's land resources authority.

Measures on land transferred after the above date is still under study, the city said.

Many cities in China face the problem of the expiration of rights granted for 20 years.
