MORE OPPORTUNITIES THAN EVER
Some experts say opportunities have never been better for qualified government job seekers.
"The vacancies have greatly increased, but applicants have not necessarily surged," said Yan Jirong, professor at Peking University School of Government, adding that the percentage of those accepted will increase, even if there is a slight rebound in applicants.
The appeal of government jobs will continue to drop, and graduates, especially elite ones, have other choices, he said.
The State Administration of Civil Service also reinforced restrictions on applicants. In a statement, it said most positions in government agencies above the provincial level will require two years of low-level experience.
Recruitment for lower-level positions will also mainly target fresh graduates. Those without a bachelor degree as well as current public servants and staff of government-affiliated agencies will not be able to register for the 2016 exam.
