    India launches 1st astronomical observatory into space

    India on Monday launched its first astronomical observatory on board its indigenous Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, which is also carrying six foreign satellites including four U.S. satellites, from the spaceport of Sriharikota in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh.
